Medical Care
The difference in medical care in El Centro vs. San Diego is astronomically different. Am speaking of time, quality and patient caring. Unbelievably different.
Dad was up here for a CT Scan at Scripps La Jolla ........2:30 appt. and we were out of the hospital by 3:07!!!!!!!! Amazing compared to El Centro where they are so inefficient you hate to even have to go to the hospital for this stuff.
Grands were over tonight and leaving tomorrow for Modesto for the 4 day weekend. I will miss them terribly.
Just when we think things are settling in, something else happens to make us "on edge." Surgery next for Dad.
Nothing in the house says "Christmas" yet. *sigh*

LTC Long Term Care
AaaaaaaacccccccK........growing old can suck.........Had dental checkup and cleaning,
then on to my class on LTC (Long Term Care) and what it costs, etc. $300 per MONTH is what one of the participants said he paid for his LTC ......yes a MONTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! But the broker suggests taking the annual premium out of
my annuities because if I didn't have the LTC I would be using up my annuity $ anyway before any MEDICAL would kick in. I'd have to wipe out all my assets down to $500,000. Something to think about.
Now I am headed to Rubio's Fish Taco Restaurant and then on to Barnes and Noble for School Family Night with proceeds of the book and restaurant sales going to our Isabella's school's PTA.

Post Thanksgiving Weekend
No, I do not shop the few days after Thanksgiving, leaving it for the young at heart and body. Most of my shopping is on line these days and I prefer it that way. Spent Friday with leftovers and more clean up from the feast. Yesterday Mike's family came over and we watched football and got to play with our granddaughter. Iliana is growing so fast. Amazing through a grandparent's eyes how wonderful our grands truly are. Iliana is sleeping through the night with mom waking her up in the middle for a bottle and diaper change. I don't remember waking mine up for that. They were always up! At least that's what I remember. Today, Sunday, will watch Sunday news on tv, watch grand for a few hours and then Charger football this afternoon.
Family spaghetti dinner tonight and then I need to teach myself how to embroider. This will be fun!
In the news today: we are so attached to Saudi oil and accept the intolerable way they treat their women. UNACCEPTABLE. We need to become OIL INDEPENDENT in a secure environmental friendly way. IMHO Politicians are afraid to take the leap. WHY?

Post Thanksgiving Thoughts
Yesterday was a lovely day with family all around. It also was the first time I did the entire feast with paper and plastic goods NOT the fine china and silver. Served it outside in crockpots/warmers, and most everything had a lid or cover so stayed nice and warm and no insects around. Some ate outside by the pool, others inside at the dining room table that accommodates 12.
Played Wii and Clue, Jr. with Isabella. Then the guys played a few rounds of 500 while Kathy and I got to talk while cleaning up. All in all, a very wonderful day with family. I am blessed!!!!!!!!

11/14/07
The sky is blue, weather in the 80's and I am having happy hour with my best friend after a pedicure and haircut!
Life is good! My diet is not "in existence" this week thusfar! I need to get back on track.
Molly is becoming more obsessed each day about birds and cats invading "her territory".....what next?
Working on getting help from the Braille institute for dad.
la chaim!

MRSA
I spent the last 2 days with my dad. He contracted MRSA the summer of '06 from
one of the hospitals in Wisconsin. Probably the nursing home.
He has it again and it is something to really be concerned about with the elderly.
If you don't know about it here is a website for you to read how bad it can get.
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/mrsa/DS00735
Thank goodness he is reacting positively to the 4 drugs he must take to fight this stuff.
He is quite a trooper. What a strong father I have. I truly love him for NEVER giving up the fight.
Once you are a carrier you can never get rid of it.

Oct. 3
Still no grand daughter. Trip to my dad's was productive. He's 85 and really slowing down but still goes to work every single day of the week except Sundays. Always amazes me.
I can't wait to hold our new grand daughter when she decides to grace us with her presence. I just know I will cry with tears of joy and wish my mother could have been on this earth to experience this as well. She always wondered if she would ever be a great grandmother. *sigh*

October 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our granddaughter is Due Oct. 4, this Thursday, and I can't wait.
I have been OH so ready to be grandma since I was 44 and to enjoy what I have always lived for, family and MORE family. I realize I take nothing with me when I die, but hope to leave a legacy of good family ties behind when I go. Mom always said, "Keep the family together when I'm gone."She was ever so right. Now I just remember the promise I made and work on doing the best I can to do JUST that.
Tomorrow it is off to Dad's to help him with some banking and a medical checkup. I hope Iliana doesn't decide "it's time" while I am gone.
